Ben Bio

I’ve loved shooting since the first time I pulled a trigger at age 8. During high school I volunteered at my local PD where I learned more about handguns. I joined the Marine Corps Infantry after high school. I was a reserve for 10 years with 2 years of active duty and 1 tour in Iraq in 2003. I worked for an armored car company for almost 7 years mostly in the LA area of California. During all that I also got a degree in law enforcement and went through two different police academies. Being a cop never worked out, but through it all I’ve always been training people to fight. I spent all of 2008 in Iraq again as a private contractor defending a base. There I got to teach and train with the US Army and others. Now I want to bring that experience and my joy of teaching to others. I love teaching firearms and want the good people of the world to be able to defend themselves. It’s now my mission and purpose in life.

I'm a regular guy. I'm not a gunsmith, not ex-law enforcement and not ex-military. I'm a guy, who back in 2005, due to a close call with a potential bad guy, decided to get my concealed carry license and carry a gun every day. After being a student at numerous training classes, I realized that although I'm an eternal student of the art of defensive handgunning, there is also a place for me to help instill the fundamentals of gun handling and defensive handgun techniques for shooters of all types. So, combining my training and several years of competition shooting, I decided to share what I've learned with the masses. In August of 2009, I started the HandgunWorld Podcast, a weekly internet radio show on the Gun Rights Radio Network. My every day guy persona and my ability to articulate the message, has enabled my show to grow beyond anything I could have imagined. Now, I've taken the next step, which is to teach defensive handgun concepts in person to those who own a gun for self defense. I am an NRA Pistol Instructor as well.
